MIS is engineering the future of non-contact sensing, bringing continuous vigilance to the edge
MIS’s patent-pending technology enables real-time, objective monitoring of fluids using a magnetic-based sensing approach. Our easy-to-use, clip-on hardware integrates seamlessly into existing fluid pipelines: simply attach it to the tubing.
Our proprietary coil enclosure design sandwiches the tubing cradle and the transmit coil generates a magnetic field penetrating the tubing and the fluid inside. This induces eddy currents in conductive materials such as cells or electrolytes creating a secondary magnetic field that is picked up by the receive coil. By sweeping the excitation signal through a range of frequencies, we can isolate different components in the fluid.
By analyzing complex impedance through the plastic, our edge-ML classifier monitors cell yield in real time, unlocking a highly profitable Hardware-as-a-Service model for CDMOs
Our early proof-of-concept study demonstrated that MIS’s sensor detects cell contaminations with 91% accuracy, 96% sensitivity, and 80% specificity beating out the state of the art optical sensors in accuracy (+6%) and sensitivity (+8%) while matching on specificity
Our second-generation prototype is actively being tested and refined at the MIS Technologies laboratory in Madison, WI
Our analytics platform includes a dashboard and technician mobile app that make it easy to view trends, receive alerts, and track real-time contamination risk, saving biotech companies potentially millions of dollars per batch
